The Foundation for Inclusive Education (FIED), based in Cameroon, is a grassroots organization dedicated to advancing inclusive education, peacebuilding, and social justice. Under the leadership of Executive Director Nkegoah Ebenezer, the foundation focuses on addressing systemic barriers that prevent children—especially those from marginalized communities—from accessing quality education. Its work is rooted in the belief that education is a fundamental right and a powerful tool for reducing inequality and fostering long-term societal stability.
A core priority of FIED is ensuring that children with disabilities are not left behind in the education system. The organization promotes inclusive learning environments by supporting schools with training, resources, and advocacy aimed at integrating learners of all abilities. This includes raising awareness among educators and communities, adapting teaching methods, and encouraging policies that support equitable access. By working closely with families, schools, and local stakeholders, FIED helps create spaces where diversity is respected and every child has the opportunity to thrive academically and socially.
Beyond education, FIED adopts a holistic approach to community development by addressing interconnected challenges that affect learning outcomes. The foundation is actively involved in initiatives related to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), recognizing that a safe and healthy environment is essential for effective education. It also provides IT support and digital literacy programs to bridge the technology gap in underserved areas. Through partnerships with community groups and other organizations, FIED amplifies its impact, contributing to stronger, more resilient communities while promoting dignity, inclusion, and equal opportunity for all.
